Please fill out a Soliciting Permit Application (PDF) and submit a payment of $10 to the Town of Ashland. Payment is accepted by personal or bank checks only made payable to the "Town of Ashland." The Hawking and Peddling Permits are available at Town Hall.

Soliciting
§ 215-11 License required
It shall be unlawful for any solicitor or canvasser, as defined in this Article, to engage in such business within the Town of Ashland without first obtaining a license therefore in compliance with the provisions of this Article.
§ 215-14 Application for license
Applicants for a license shall file with the Chief of Police a written application signed under the penalties of perjury. At the time of filing the application, each applicant shall pay a fee as set by the Town Meeting to the Town of Ashland. Upon receipt of the application, The Chief of Police shall investigate the applicant's reputation as to morals and integrity, the Chief of Police shall approve or disapprove the application and notify the applicant of his decision. In the event that the application is approved, a license shall by issued. Any applicant shall have the right to appeal the Board of Selectmen.
§ 215-16 Badge
Solicitors and canvassers when engaged in the business of soliciting or canvassing are required to display an identifying badge issued by the Chief of Police, by wearing said badge on an outer garment.
§ 215-17 Enforcement
Each licensee is required to possess an individual license. The police officers of the Town of Ashland shall enforce this Article.
§ 215-19 Revocation of license
The Chief of Police is hereby vested with jurisdiction over the revoking of licenses.
§ 215-22 Violations of penalties.
Any person violating any provision of this Article may be arrested and punished by a fine not to exceed $100 for each and every offense.
